It's been a while since I wrote an actual entry about anything related to my day to day life so here goes...
The summer went by really quick and I didn't manange to get much of a tan or social stuff in.
I did get to go to Ska Fest though, which was thoroughly enjoyable.
I got a new scooter this summer too. My old scooter was stolen and while that really sucked, it enabled me to move up to a bigger engine scooter. I'm now driving a Yamaha Vino 125cc in contrast to the Honda Jazz 50cc I used to ride. Much more fun...I can reach highway speeds! Unfortunately, my new scooter was the victim of a hit and run several weeks ago. A taxi was observed backing into my scooter and knocking it over, after which the driver got out and put the scoot back up on it's stand thinking he would get away with the damages. Fortunately, a really nice man in my building saw the guy and informed the manager who in turn informed me. Now, I am getting everything fixed on the taxi driver's insurance bill. Hopefully, in two weeks time I will no longer be driving around on a busted up scooter.
Since the summer was a bit of a disappointment, I decided to go through with a life-long dream and book myself a vacation to the south pacific. Since I graduated from uni, I have really been talking a lot about going down to New Zealand and nursing and now I am. Well, not going there to nurse, but going there. With a stop in Fiji on the way. And really, it's a bit more than a vacation as I'm planning to stay for a year! I got a working holiday visa and am planning to pick up odd jobs. I'm not registered to nurse down there and don't think I'll bother to get registered unless I decide to move there on a more permanent basis.
Now comes the stressful part. Well, I have to move out of my apartment! I was hoping to find someone to sublet the place fully furnished with two wonderful feline companions, but I didn't get any takers, so I gave my notice. I move out of my place on Oct 31, then I will be homeless for 5 days until I leave (at which point I will continue to be homeless, but in another country where I will call myself a traveller, not homeless). Anyone wanna take me in? More important than my 5 days of limbo where I can probably find a friend to stay with, is the year of limbo for my poor pussy cats! I really don't know what exactly I should do because I want to have them back when I get home. I feel like the best situation would be having the cats stay with someone I'm close with that can look after them while I'm away and send me updates; next best would be the home of a trustworthy person who I can rely on to take care of my cats and still be around when I come home; then maybe look at boarding the cats with the SPCA (I know the staff there and I know they would be okay, I just don't want my cats to be adopted out); absolute last resort would be giving my cats away. Any takers? C'mon, they're great cats and it's only a one year commitment...

I'm not sure how I did it, but I completely missed (by more than 2 weeks) the deadline to register online for my convocation. Well...scratch that...I know how it happened, I didn't get the letter from UVic and none of my fellow graduates mentioned in conversation that they had done this so I was clueless. Now there's a big chance I might not be able to participate in my convocation ceremony on Friday - the main event my mother is travelling all the way across the fucking country for. If by some fluke, I'm able to be included in convocation, I certainly won't be able to get my diploma that day with everyone else, but at least I'll be able to walk across the stage. I'm so scared, angry, sad right now and I can't quit crying since it hit me that my graduation is going to be the ultimate anticlimax without even the usual bonk on the head. Last month, and now this month are turning out to be the worst of my fucking life!

So my scooter was stolen on Friday night. From in front of Katt's condo on Hillside. I found this out on Saturday morning around 10:30am. It really fucking sucks. ICBC doesn't give a rat's ass about normal, nice people who get victimized by stupid shitheads out for a joy ride. I guess the good news is that my scooter was recovered. It looks absolutely terrible, however. I'm not sure if they will opt to fix it or junk it. My ICBC appointment isn't until May 15. There's a possibility ICBC will cover a rental car starting Tuesday so I won't have to continue to walk to work. It takes 45 minutes to walk each way to work. I am working night shifts from 11pm-7am. I don't want to walk. The bus service where I live is pretty much non-existant. On the upside, I hooked up with a hot guy at Vanessa's stagette party on Friday night. That's the only part of upside about this weekend.

Well, I've already found a new place to live! The size is similar to my place now, but it has better amenities. It's a top floor apartment (rather than a 1 bedroom basement) and it has a deck. The kitchen, breakfast area, and bathroom are getting new floors, and the bathroom is also getting new counters, a new medicine cabinet, and a reglaze on the tub. The minor flaws on the carpet are going to be fixed. The building has a pool and sauna and a huge laundry room. Chris was happy that there's an elevator since that means he won't be humping my furniture up stairs. I already have a furniture layout in mind and it seems like all my stuff will fit fabulously into the new place.
Now to actually do something about my current place. People are coming through to look around 3pm and I should probably do some vaccuming before that happens and get these school papers off the bedroom floor. I have a ton of clothes to go through and donate to my favorite charity, Women in Need. There will be other editing of things too, but I am ready to do that.

Well, I gave my notice to move out of my current rental. This is something I have been mulling over for some time and finally tonight got up the nerve.
